Description
The yellow-Naped Amazon is an endangered amazon parrot. These birds are native to the Pacific side of Central America and northern South America. They are primarily found in southern Mexico and northwest Costa Rica. Unfortunately, deforestation is reducing the number of these parrots in the wild.
These birds are very animated and can learn to talk quite well but also can be a bit noisy.
What do you expect from your Amazon? When you bring one home, you expect him to be friendly, be a good talker, be intelligent, and give you unconditional love and companionship. This is what you want and this is what you can have. You need to treat your Amazon the same when you first get him as you would a year from now. They are highly intelligent creatures who can give you much pleasure and fun, but at the same time can be noisy and aggressive if not socialized properly and spoiled too much. They will love you and sometimes get too attached to just you. They love interaction. Smaller amazons are a bit more sociable with strangers than the larger ones, but the larger ones will still be good with others if you work with them. This is why you will need for the whole family to be able to hold and play with the bird. They bond very strongly to one owner.
