Description
The Cape parrot or Levaillant’s parrot is a large, temperate forest dwelling parrot endemic to South Africa.
These birds are becoming more rare these days but make great pets. They are medium sized parrots but don’t let their size fool you, they have big personalities.
What do you expect? When you bring one home, you expect him to have some talking ability, be a great mimic, be intelligent, sociable, and give you unconditional love and companionship. This is what you want and this is what you can have, but you need to treat your bird the same when you first get him as you would a year from now. They are highly intelligent creatures who can feel your emotions and sensitivity. They will love you like no other. They bond very strongly to their owner(s). Their willingness to be handled by others has a great deal to do with the way they are socialized.
